    I've just had an Ohme ePod Charger fitted in my garage,and the people who did the job, were just what I'd hoped for . They were very quiet, efficient, and arrived at the time we had organised. The house was left ,and did not show any signs that work had been done .

    From the outset, the initial communication was quick and clear. A personal site visit was arranged early on to technically assess the installation, and a really good solution was then proposed that suited my home perfectly and made the most of my existing PV system.
    Costs were provided promptly, followed quickly by arranging an installation date. On the day itself, the operatives arrived early and got straight to work. They were friendly, efficient, and the quality of workmanship was excellent — the installation is neat, tidy, and very well finished.
    I was given all the relevant paperwork and manuals and talked through the operation of the charger clearly before they left. Overall, a great job from start to finish. I’m very happy not just with the installation, but also with the technical advice and the well‑thought‑out solution and product provided. Highly recommended.

    We needed a couple of ancient lights replaced that were beyond my skill level!     I was recommended Energize electrical for an Ev charger installation ( though they provide a full electrical service). Communication was excellent, by email, text and phone throughout. Prompt and thorough. The survey was carried out quickly and possible solutions were discussed and agreed upon. A quote was promptly provided with digital acceptance available by email. We delayed accepting due to circumstances, but when 6 months later I got back in touch, they resurveyed without issue and stood by their original quote. The installation was quickly arranged and performed to a high standard. Everyone arrived in time and did the job tidily and to a high standard.     With changing legislation coming into force in just under a decade, there’s never been a better time to invest in an electric vehicle of your own. If you do take the plunge, you’re going to need an EV charging point installed in your home to guarantee a smooth ride.

    Installing an EV charging station on your property is the cheapest and most convenient way to top up your EV's battery. In addition, EV charging points can be set up to charge your vehicle during off-peak times (such as overnight). This way, not only will you wake up to a full battery for the day ahead, you’ll save some pennies, too. We have answered the most frequently asked questions about our EV Charger installation services, however, please do get in touch if you have more questions.

    EV charging stations are typically installed on an exterior wall of your home or garage. Using one of our qualified electricians, installing your new EV charging point will usually take no more than a day to complete, so you can get back to driving.

    • WCS – Workplace Charging Scheme. Available for business and public sector installations.
    • OZEV – Office for Zero Emission Vehicles. Formerly known as OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles).
    • EST – Energy Savings Trust. An additional organisation providing additional funding for Scottish EV users.

    Most homes have single phase 230V supplies meaning the maximum power of chargers suitable are 7kw/32amps. Chargers are supplied by a 6mm cable wired directly from your fusebox/consumer unit and must be on their own dedicated circuit. Depending on the condition and capacity of your fusebox/consumer unit an additional unit may need to be installed to supply the electric vehicle circuit. A 32A charger will give 30 miles of range per hour, the size of your cars battery will determine how long it will take to charge, the industry leading Tesla Model 3 will take around 8 hours from empty.

    Suppliers now offer great EV tariffs with money saving incentives, scheduled charging enables the car to be plugged in and set to charge between pre-set times like midnight and 7am to charge when the EV tariff gives the lowest price of electricity. This requires a smart meter to be fitted by your supplier. A full electric Hyundai Ioniq costs much less to run than than an equivalent petrol or diesel saloon, at around £4.80 to charge from empty to full with a range of 193 miles, costing only 2.94p per mile (based on 14p/kWh tariff). 

    Remember, you could be entitled to up to £500 grant funding to help with the cost of installation.

    9/10 customers go for tethered – a built in lead – as it is more convenient and allows you to keep your spare lead in the boot to use when you are away from home. Some clients prefer to have untethered – socket only – as they find the coiled leads untidy when not in use, it’s a matter of personal taste and what suits you.
